- The Rutherford Conservatory: In this conservatory, you will see stunning begonias, orchids, and tree ferns. The conservatory is also home to a large collection of tropical rhododendrons, also known as vireyas.
- The Victorian Stumpery: First off, a stumpery is a purposeful arrangement of woody materials, including stumps, twisted root masses, and logs that provides a great habitat to grow ferns and other plants. This stumpery is the world’s largest stumpery open to the public, covering over a half-acre. The stumpery creates a mystical and magic feeling, making it a visitor favorite.
- The Azalea Collection: Azalea’s are a Rhododendron Specie, not many people know that. The collection includes both evergreen and deciduous azaleas. Deciduous describes plants that shed their leaves annually. Most of the deciduous species on display are native to North America, while most of the evergreen azaleas come from Japan and China.

A History
The Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden is a part of a non-profit, membership-based, foundation whose purpose is to preserve, display, and distribute all of the rhododendron species. This organization was founded in 1964 by Pacific Northwest members of the American Rhododendron Society with the goal to protect the authentic forms of Rhododendron species. Because Rhododendron habitats in many areas of the world have been destroyed, conserving these plants has recently become a priority. The garden provides a place for community members to learn about rhododendrons and to see their beauty.
