We want you to get to know the technicians that service homes in your area. Tom Perry is one of the technicians that services many of the homes in the Federal Way Washington area. Tom has been a technician with Insight Pest Control since September 2020. Since starting, he has had glowing customer reviews as a technician; Insight Pest Solutions Federal Way is lucky to have him.
One customer emailed us about Tom saying, “Your agent was first class! Knowledgeable, polite, and very helpful. One of the very best agents that have ever come to my home.”
Tom not only services homes in Federal Way, he lives in the area as well. When he’s not working, Tom loves riding his motorcycle and enjoying the beauty of Federal Way and the surrounding areas.
“I love riding my motorcycle,” Tom said. “Some of my favorite spots to ride are in Black Diamond where the farmland is sprawling and the roads are winding with virtually no traffic. Probably my top favorite spot to ride is State Route 410, up to Mount Rainier. The riding is always good and the views are sensational.”
People want to know information pertaining to them and their area specifically. We had Tom answer some commonly asked pest control questions specific to the Federal Way area. Below you can read the questions we asked and Tom’s responses:
“The best thing about working for Insight Pest Solutions is that I get to be self-sufficient. I like being able to drive out and about in my service area. It’s so different from jobs I have had in the past,” Tom expressed. “The jobs I have worked in the past were always inside and the same ‘ole same ‘ole, day in, day out. It’s a nice change of pace, working outside in different areas and no two houses are the same.”
According to Tom, ants and spiders are the most prevalent pests in the area. Below, Tom explains a little more about why that is.
“When you have a lot of forested areas and a lot of water, you are going to have these pests around,” Tom said. “Many areas of Federal way are newly developed and when these forested areas are taken down and built over the ants and spiders have to go somewhere and it often leads them right into the home.”
“For treatment of ants, it really depends on the situation,” Tom said. “Solid baiting protocols along with liquid treatments usually do the trick. It may take more than one application to fully get rid of this common pest for good.”
For spiders, a technician, like Tom, will come out and apply our solution and deweb around the exterior of the home.
When it comes to wasps, they are actually a beneficial insect in most cases. But when they invade a home they become a nuisance pest. “For Wasps, we use a slow-acting non-repellent which means it has more time to make it through the nest and has a greater knockdown effect.”
“Use Insight Pest Solutions,” Tom exclaimed.
Insight Pest Control wants to continually take care of our customers, both by treating their homes and by encouraging them to take the necessary steps to prevent pest issues.
“Sanitation is key. Keeping the home clean and free of debris,” Tom advises. “We recommend keeping trees and shrubs cut back 3-5 feet from the house and below the roofline. Bugs live in and around the landscape of your home and will use the overgrown landscape as bridges right into the home. Keeping the landscape trimmed back encourages pests to move through the control products to get to the house.”
“Tom is a real team player, hard worker, and he is dedicated to a positive customer experience,” Vernon, Tom’s manager, expressed. “On first appearance, he seems like a serious and stoic man, but really he is funny and playful. We feel fortunate to have Tom be the face of Insight for our customers.”
We asked Tom for one last more insight for customers, this is what he said: “Store-bought products are not recommended for long-term solutions. Call us any time and we are happy to come out and perform a free inspection to see if we can help you have a pest-free home.”
