The Schack Art Center is a great place to view a variety of art in different mediums, learn new skills through classes offered, and watch glassblowing live. The center is an admissions-free gallery located in downtown Everett, WA.
The Arts Council of Snohomish County was founded in 1974 by local artists and art advocates. This non-profit organization focused on celebrating art and sharing it. In 1981, the organization shifted their focus to visual arts availability to youth for education and enjoyment. They began to show art from local artists in a free gallery.
It was in the late 1990s that the Art Council made plans to have a permanent home for these galleries. It wasn’t until 2006 that an official campaign launched to build a regional art center to provide artistic education and expression for the community. On April 30, 2011 the Schack Art Center opened for the public as the new home for the Art Council and as a place for art to be celebrated.
The Schack Art Center was named after John and Idamae Schack because of their fervent and constant support of Everett’s cultural institutions. In 2014, just a few years after it’s opening, the Schack Art Center received a Governor’s Award in the category of “Outstanding Arts Organization” in the State of Washington.
The Schack Art Center shows local artists masterpieces as well as many artists from across the US. The exhibits are always rotating and changing, if you are curious what the current exhibits are, go ahead and check out the Schack Art Center website.
