About Bradley Lake Park
Bradley Lake Park is a large 59-acres, 12 of which are consumed by Bradley Lake. The park provides Puyallup WA locals with many different facilities and access to outdoor activities. The park provides all of the following:
Walking Trail
Bradley Lake is surrounded with a paved walking trail, about a mile long. The trail is the perfect place to go for a walk, take a run, or walk your dog (on leash).
Bradley Lake
Since no motorized boats are allowed, the water in Bradley Lake is very calm and peaceful. Fishing is allowed from shore, but there are new rules only allowing youth (15 and under) and seniors to fish.
Picnic Shelters
With 12 picnic tables and an occupancy of up to 72 people, the picnic shelters make a great space for a party or large family gathering. You can reserve and rent the picnic shelter during the months of April through September. Rentals are for time slots of either 10 am to 3 pm, or from 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The cost for one time slot is $80 for Puyallup residents or $100 for non-residents.
Athletic Fields and Playground
The park included 2 youth baseball diamonds and a large open field that could be used for a variety of different sports. For younger children, Bradley Lake Park features an inclusive and fun playground.
History
In 1956, Irene and Ward Bradley bought and lived on the property that is now known as Bradley Lake Park. When they bought the property the land was a local peat bog and wetland. When the family started digging to get soil, they discovered there was too much water. Over time, that large water hole formed into a lake. When Irene saw this progress, she also saw the potential for the property to become a park.
In 1997, Irene and Ward Bradely sold their property to the City of Puyallup. Bradley Lake Park was established in 1997 by means of a voter approved bond.
Bradley Lake evidently was named after the former owners. Ward passed away in 2010 and Irene passed away at the age of 103 in July 2020, both in Puyallup.
