What’s on the menu?

Classic appetizers include Red Pepper Walnut Hummus and Tzatziki, but unique options are also available for the adventurous! Falafel Balls and Veggie Stuffed Grape Leaves are sure to offer unique and authentic flavors!

Main dishes are equally enticing and full of flavor. A variety of kabobs are available. Of course the classic Kobabe that is so iconic to Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine is available, with traditional lamb or an Americanized rib-eye for those who like to stick to what they know and love! A variety of soups and salads are also available with traditional meats and dressings. Shawarma and Falafel wraps offer some traditional street food with a classy twist. Have you ever seen a movie with a beautiful array of Eastern dishes with contrasting colors and a variety of dips? Order a Mezza to experience that array on a smaller scale!

Platter of Food

Don’t forget pizza! Lamb kabob pizza, combining Lebanese and Mediterranean, is sure to be a new flavor experience. Pies stuffed with feta and spinach are also available for those who want an authentic vegetarian option. Nicholas is also conscious of those who have gluten and wheat allergies. Just make sure to request gluten free (GF) pita bread or ask about their other GF options!

Dessert Anyone?!

You’ll certainly be tempted by the delicious desserts available. Baklava is available throughout the year, but make sure to try the pumpkin walnut edition available in the Fall! There is also a peanut butter version for those who love the peanut butter and chocolate combo. Or maybe you’re a cheesecake enthusiast! Try a Lebanese version named, Knafa Be Jibany. Enjoy one of a variety of Turkish beverages or if you’re not feeling too adventurous the classics, like Sprite, Coke and strawberry lemonade are also available.

Lebanese food

What spices and flavors are common in Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine?

Lebanese foods are known for their combination of strong spices. There is one common spice blend in particular that consists of seven individual spices. The separate components include classic allspice, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, black pepper, nutmeg and fenugreek (or coriander). Did you follow until fenugreek? Fenugreek is a three leafed plant that is harvested all around the world. It’s leaves are more commonly used in Indian cuisine. It adds a bitter, yet tangy flavor to dishes.

Mediterranean flavors are similar to Lebanese flavors. They may use a bit more paprika, garlic, rosemary, dill, basil and oregano. Of course Italy is known for their thin crusted pizza and savory pastas. Fresh fish is commonly enjoyed, as well as olives and grapes.

Need something more classic?

Try the Wild Duck in Eugene! This restaurant features classic American foods and as the name alludes to dishes with duck! Check out our University of Oregon post for more information.
