LeMay – America’s Car Museum is believed to be one of oldest and best car museums in the USA today. It is located in Tacoma, Washington. The bulk of the museums’ collections were donated from the largest private automotive collections in the world. LeMay America’s Car Museum is a common destination for families, car fans, and motor enthusiasts. This is a number one stop for all who enjoy learning about or seeing beautifully restored cars.
The museum is very large and contains around 350 cars on display. Of the 350 cars on display, 250 are a part of the permanent collection and 100 are on rotating loan from private collectors. The cars are arranged and displayed according to their year and type of production. Some collections and exhibits that have been on display include Classics and Custom Coachworks, Route 66: Sixties on 66, Heroes of Bavaria, and British Invasion. There is a permanent exhibit dedicated to the largest contributor to the museum’s collection: Harold LeMay.
One of the features that sets LeMay America’s Car Museum apart is their hospitality. They treat visitors honorably and organize interactive sessions tailored to different audiences’ experience and knowledge. There are field trips, classes offered for students, and historical discussions for adults. These interactive sessions give more insight into the models and their importance. The museum is available to rent for events and private groups. If you are interested, contact the museum for more information.
The time recommended seeing all the museum has to offer depends on what you’ve come to see. The museum also hosts restoration shops, lecture halls, and galleries in addition to its exhibits. For those who only plan to look at the different types of cars, about two to three hours should be enough to see the collection. Be sure to wear very comfortable shoes when visiting! If you finish your visit to the museum but want to see some more attractions close by, you can stop by the University of Pungent Sound. This university is located nearby the Seattle Needle as well, so you can visit that attraction as well.
